19R263C - Embroidery for Crazy Quilts

If you've been enchanted by vintage crazy quilts, this class will get you started on creating your own heirloom. You will begin by learning basic embroidery stitches and then add flourishes to create unique embellishments. The basics of constructing a crazy quilt block and how to work with challenging fabrics will be covered. You will then construct a block and work the embroidery. Design and using color will also be discussed.

Level: Intermediate and above

Student Supply List:
Sewing machine, fabrics for quilt block (which can include cottons, velvets/velveteens, satin, silk, brocades), sewing thread, package of assorted embroidery needles, sewing scissors, embroidery scissors, embroidery floss (a limited number of colors will be provided), perle cotton (size 8 or 5 work best), cutting mat and rotary cutter (optional), steam iron, and regular sewing tools you find helpful.
