Hand forge and finish a knife of high carbon steel with handle of natural materials such as wood, bone, or antler. Knife fittings of guards, bolsters, and pommels will be forged or poured with non-ferrous casting. Techniques included in class will be fire maintenance; hot forging; filing; heat treatment of annealing, hardening, and tempering; applying handle materials; and sharpening. You will go home with your own custom knife! Class appropriate for beginning and intermediate smiths. All materials supplied, but you may bring special handle materials such as hardwoods or antler, if you wish.

Level: Beginner and above

Student Supply List:
Items for students to bring or wear: Natural material clothing, no shorts or open shoes, ear and eye protection, leather gloves, water bottle, sketch pad, any special handle materials a student may want to bring, ie. hardwoods or antler.
