Woodcarvers' Retreat
May 2-4, 2017

Sharpen your knives and get ready to carve and whittle with other woodcarving enthusiasts for three relaxing, fun days starting with an introductory get together dinner with instructors Monday evening. You will be choosing among five excellent instructors who offer you their expertise and their signature projects, great for beginners as well as advanced carvers. Workshops will be held in Shake Rag Alley's Lind Pavilion, a lofty 1940s Quonset hut newly and completely renovated as spacious and attractive classroom space. Three workshops in other media will be offered during the retreat for non-woodcarvers. Lunches are included and catered…a great time to check on what everybody else is doing. And evening events will round out the days. Plus there's plenty to do and see in this historic, charming art community of Mineral Point.

Three day Woodcarving Workshops (includes opening dinner and lunches, morning coffee, snacks, and evening activities): $270 per person
Material fees are separate and shown in the workshop listings.

Woodcarvers' Guests
Sampler sessions for the non-carvers (Hypertufa planters, Swirl Bead Pendant, Hand Dyed Silk Scarves): $45 per person
Lunches and Opening Dinner woodcarving students' guests may be purchased separately.

Evening activities include a visit to the woodcarving studio and hand-built home of artists John and Jennifer Sharp. John’s outstanding woodcarvings have won many major awards including Best of Show at the International Woodcarvers Congress. Denny Neubauer will also give demonstrations on knife sharpening and tips on carving knives and tools.

Carvings by some of the instructors will be on exhibit during the Woodcarving retreat at Longbranch Gallery 203 Commerce Street in Mineral Point.
