19R271O-P - Design and Print Greeting Cards on Vandercook Proof Presses

In this introductory class, participants will learn the basics of letterpress printing while creating their own unique set of two-color greeting cards. Each participant will learn how to cast hot metal type, lock-up, register, and use one of four Vandercook proof presses. You will have access to Mayday Press’s collection of wood type, Ludlow type, cuts and ornaments, and certain polymer plates. We’ll work together to bring your ideas to life, but the composition and content are up to you. Please come prepared with several simple concepts and short phrases.
