Explore an exciting array of printmaking workshops, most of which involve printing simply and easily by hand. Get colorful inks on your fingers — and maybe in your blood — while learning inspiring techniques of Moku Hanga Japanese woodcuts, multi-color linocuts, hand-colored woodcuts, monoprints, silk screen printing, and more. Join in the fun and sign up for whatever intrigues you. Try a new technique or sign up for more fun in your favorite mode.

19R271LB-P - Sample Five Water-Based Inks
September 28-29, 2019
Saturday-Sunday, 9am-4pm
Judy Sutcliffe

19R271LB-P - Sample Five Water-Based Inks

Want to try five different water-base inks on a linocut? Try printing with:
1) Blick water-based ink
2) Caligo oil-basde ink with water/soap wash up
3) Schminke Linodruck thin strongly pigmented water-base
4) Charbonnel Aqua Wash oil-based with water washup, and
5) Akua Intaglio highly pigmented inks.

Bring a 3”x4” design to carve in provided linoleum, incorporating solid areas plus line work. For multi-color imprinting, come with designs for second or third colors. Some inks dry quickly, ready for a second color. Others need to dry overnight. A variety of papers will be available. You will bind your prints into an ink sampler using Japanese stab binding.

Level: Beginner and above

Student Supply List:
Bring a 3”x 4” design for linocut incorporating solid areas and line work. You’ll carve it in class on linoleum provided. Bring small V and U gouges if you have them. If you want to try multi-color prints, bring designs for the second and third colors.

Tuition $210
Materials Fee $10
