Hands-On Image Making Fun!

September 28-30, 2018

Explore an exciting array of printmaking workshops, most of which involve printing simply and easily by hand. Get colorful inks on your fingers—and maybe in your blood—while learning inspiring techniques of Moku Hanga Japanese woodcuts, multi-color linocuts, hand-colored woodcuts, monoprints, copper etching, and silk screen printing. Join in the fun and sign up for whatever intrigues you. Try a new technique or sign up for more fun in your favorite mode. Printmaking students will lunch together and peruse each other’s work (class fees include lunch).

18C343P - Carving and Hand Printing Linocuts

18C343P - Carving and Hand Printing Linocuts

Start with a 6”x8” piece of battleship linoleum, the time-honored basis for linocut art, and create one or more editions of multi-color prints. Judy will supply lots of pre-cut 6”x8” linoleum, a simple registration system that doubles as a carving mount, brayers, archival papers and card stock, and easy-clean-up inks to try (Blick, Akua, Caligo). Experiment with multi-color blocks or the one-block multicolor reduction process. Bring a sharp V or U gouge if you have them, otherwise borrow tools from Judy. Have fun making linocuts that you can continue to print with for years.

Class fee includes lunch each day.
