18A400 - Pottery Wheel Throwing Boot Camp

18A400 - Pottery Wheel Throwing Boot Camp

Learn how to throw coffee mugs, noodle bowls, teapots - just about anything - on a potter's wheel. Here’s your chance to work with Bruce Howdle, nationally known ceramic artist, who’ll teach you the basics and keep you inspired as your skill levels rise from beginner to advanced. In this five-day boot camp you will learn to throw on an electric or kick wheel, explore basic skills, build your throwing height, and practice-practice-practice.

At the end of Bootcamp, Bruce will bisque fire your completed pieces so you can return to glaze them during an Open Studio/Lab weekend when Bruce will be available in the Pottery Studio to assist and give you instructions. Then Bruce will glaze fire in his stoneware kiln and you can arrange with Bruce to pick up your finished pieces. Bootcamp tuition fee includes use of classroom equipment, tools, stains, glazes, firing, and 25 pounds of clay plus one Open Studio return visit for glazing (see Schedule of Open Studio dates). More clay may be purchased from Bruce as needed.

Level: Beginner and above

Tuition $450
