MOSAIC MADNESS WEEKEND

This is the third year we’ve offered this exciting weekend of exploration of the cementitious arts, meaning: you get your (gloved) hands into cement, sand, concrete, hypertufa, thin set mortar, and lots of mosaic possibilities in pique assiette (broken crockery and tiles) and pebble mosaic. We’ll have a major concrete and mosaic sculpture project, using an armature we’ll supply. You’ll start on it on Friday afternoon and continue, off and on, through the weekend. But since concrete needs curing and stiffening up times, there will be plenty of extra time to play with making leaf castings, large bird baths, garden lanterns, fountains, pebble mosaic stepping stones, and anything else anyone can think of. It’s a very free and casual environment, working under tree-shaded tents among the lovely Shake Rag gardens. You may need to leave some of your sculptures at Shake Rag to dry for a few days, and be forewarned that you’ll end up with a LOT of creative stuff to cram into your car.

:Class is for adults, but we welcome mature high school age youth if accompanied by registered adult.
