BEGINNING SPINNING Get on the spinning hay-wagon and see why this revitalized ancient skill is so popular with today’s fiber enthusiasts. Local shepherdess and fiber artist Kriss Marion will take you through the steps to get rolling, starting on drop spindles and finishing on wheels, using wool from her farm. Each participant will leave with one skein of their own yarn, enough to make a scarf or hat. CLASS CODE: 8B-740 |

3D NEEDLE FELTING Join master needle felter Joni Stein for a fun time creating a three dimensional object from fluffy wool roving. Joni will instruct you in the basics of needle felting and show you her techniques for felting a 3D figure, but the creative inspiration will be your own. You may select various objects to felt - your dog or cat, wild animals such as bears, raccoons or squirrels, fantasy creatures like dragons and elves – your choice! Bring pictures or statues for reference. Joni encourages her students to expand their horizons and try new things – there are no failures here! Some tools and supplies included in class fee. You will receive a supply list of things to purchase on your own (supply cost about $20). CLASS CODE: 8B-750 class cancelled |

BRAIDED WOOL RUG/CHAIR PAD Come sink your hands into some fluffy wool from local sheep. Linda Derrickson of Hillspring Eco- Farm will teach you how to create durable, beautiful braided wool rugs inspired by methods in the book The Shepherd’s Rug . In this technique you will start with raw wool roving rather than strips of wool fabric. You will braid it and felt it, then sew your own mini-rug, chair pad or hot pad using a simple spiral technique. No experience needed, just willing hands. “I am blessed with my Norwegian grandmother’s rug-making genes” says Linda. “I can remember our farmhouse floors being warmed by her colorful braided rugs and I am tickled to pass on this tradition.” Class fee covers tools (yours to keep). Roving will be available for purchase at class, or you may bring your own (12-16 ounces). CLASS CODE: 8B-840 |
