Character Actor Wilford Brimley and Actress Kerry Shear to Perform "Love Letters" for
Shake Rag Alley Benefit, May 30 & 31
Film and TV actress Kerry Shear (The Waltons, The Hitchhikers, Glass Menagerie) and Strasberg Institute acting teacher has been a guest instructor at Shake Rag Alley for the past three summers, teaching and performing during the dynamic week of Stage and Screen workshops in August. Kerry shared her enthusiasm about Shake Rag Alley with her old friend Wilford Brimley who immediately expressed an interest in becoming involved.
A stout, bespectacled, character actor with a walrus mustache and a flair for accents, Brimley has starred in many leading movies and TV shows such as The Lawman, The Waltons, True Grit, The China Syndrome, The Electric Horseman, Tender Mercies, The Natural, Country, The Firm, My Fellow Americans and In & Out.. Brimley is especially adept at playing endearing curmudgeons, such as the increasingly frisky senior citizens in Ron Howard’s movie Cocoon and its sequel Cocoon: The Return.
On May 30 and 31, Brimley and Shear will be in Mineral Point to perform the classic play, Love Letters, as a benefit for Shake Rag Alley. Love Letters is about a man and a woman reliving their romance through a lifetime of loving correspondence. It’s poignant, compelling and truthful – a serenade of the heart.
The Friday evening, May 30 performance will include a gourmet dinner prepared by chef Isaak Spicer and a reception with the performers. On Saturday, May 31, a public performance will be presented at the Mineral Point Opera House. Ticket prices are $18 per person for the public performance on Saturday. Tickets for the dinner/theater performance on Friday are $100. All proceeds will benefit Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts. Tickets are available now at Berget’s Jewelry, Shake Rag Alley, and, on-line at http://www.AlleyStage.com
