Tutoring

Much of the fun of taking a workshop is in meeting new people and sharing the creative experience. But sometimes you can't make the class on the date given, or would like specialized personal training in a craft. We have some instructors who are willing to tutor 1-3 persons in a variety of subjects.

Shake Rag Alley will provide a range of services including connecting interested students to available instructors, processing fees and payments, providing classroom space and set-up and cleaning of classroom space.

Tutoring sessions may be half day (3 hours), whole day (6 hours), or multiple days.  Tutoring sessions may include techniques or topics that might be difficult for a larger class but doable for a single student or two.

It's a terrific idea. Feel the stress of your fast-paced life melt away as you break dishes to make a whimsical mosaic bird bath or hammer copper wire to make a beautiful necklace or don leather gloves and goggles to learn blacksmithing skills. There are endless possibilities to be creative at Shake Rag Alley workshops. Each day begins on our idyllic 2.5 acre campus with workshops held in our historic and charming buildings and ends with a peaceful night’s sleep in our unique, historic lodging. Lunch or dinner might be enjoyed at one of Mineral Point's excellent restaurants along with a peek into the several art galleries featured in this artistic community.

The cost for a customized retreat is very reasonable. You will receive a 10% discount on our normal lodging rates at the Stagecoach House, the Mousehole’s duplex apartments and the Tuckpoint’s spacious 3-room suite. Rates for workshops vary depending on the types of classes chosen and range from approximately $50 for a three-hour class to $235 for a two-day bent willow chair class. Winter weekends and weekday reservations year round are almost always workable. Our staff will work with you to design a retreat that is tailored just for your group and their interests.
