Students will explore surface techniques, building their own collage palette that will stretch new awareness and growth. Everyone will be working with harmony, value, differences, and the relationships of design elements, each pulling from their own feelings and experiences of interconnectedness to mind, body, spirit. Emphasis on emotions with the use of color will be our focus. As we get older we grow self-conscious and judgmental, believing that art is not good unless it’s realistically recognizable. Collage, design, and mixed media offer up a playful experimental atmosphere that is safe for all to find a deeper meaning to the art-making process. Students’ collage works will emerge and evolve on watercolor paper, fused using the heat and tack iron method.
