Silkscreen onto Encaustic is a process whereby images are screenprinted onto a wax based surface producing prints that have the luminosity of encaustic paintings while maintaining the graphic nature of screenprinting. The workshop will introduce and explore various approaches to combining screenprinting and encaustic, utilizing line and halftone photo-based imagery. The technical information will be presented through a hands-on approach with emphasis on achieving each individual artist’s aesthetic goals. Materials fee covers use of silk screens, photo emulsion, encaustic paint, pigment and blending sticks, inks, dyes, gesso, panels, transparency film and ink, and newsprint. No previous encaustic experience required - beginners welcome!

Level: Beginner and above
