Make some terrific looking beads out of unconventional (and inexpensive!) jewelry materials – paper beads that look very much like lampwork beads, beads made from fabric, wire, vinyl tubing, telephone wire casing, and more. These beads are great fun to make and can be done in a variety of shapes, sizes, and colors to suit any style. When combined with commercial beads they make up into unique jewelry pieces with a look that can’t be bought. You’ll string your beads on easy-to-use Memory Wire. Make a dramatic 5 loop bracelet or two 2 1/2 loop bracelets.

There will be plenty of beads and other supplies on hand, but you may bring any of your own beads that you would like to incorporate. Bring a craft heat gun if you have one (optional).
Sharon Stauffer is a Mineral Point mixed media artist. She enjoys doing representational graphite pencil drawings, not-so-representational collage and assemblages, and dabbling in some of the “alternative” art forms such as altered books and mixed media works incorporating non-traditional art materials. She is on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Regional Artists Association and organizes the annual Mineral Point Wisconsin Regional Art Association (WRAP) workshop and exhibit. Her work has been published in Cloth Paper Scissor magazine and she has also demonstrated fountain building on Wisconsin Public TV’s “Wisconsin Gardener” show. Her work can be seen during the regional Fall Art Tour at her home studio.
