12B120 - Polymer Clay Color Blending -Intro to Polymer Clay

June 2
Saturday, 9am-4pm
Carol Simmons

12B120 - Polymer Clay Color Blending -Intro to Polymer Clay

This class will introduce you to one of the fundamental polymer clay techniques: Carol’s own variation of the “Skinner Blend," one of the most widely used techniques in polymer clay art. Using a pasta machine, you will create three vibrant, multi-colored sheets of clay in which each color blends seamlessly into the next. Together, the sheets will cover the entire color wheel. From these sheets, you will make a set of beads and assemble them into a rainbow-hued necklace to wear home.

Class will begin with a brief introduction to working with polymer clay and an overview of the tools and equipment needed to get started. This is a great class for people who are just starting to work with polymer clay, people who have some experience but want to learn more about color mixing, and people who simply want to make beads. While the beads are in the oven you’ll have a chance to make a second piece of jewelry from your color blends: a bargello pendant.Class size is small so you can be sure of getting plenty of personal attention. Materials included are polymer clay, necklace findings, spacer beads, patterns and handouts.
