19R124L-B - Making Glass Beads
May 4, 2019
Saturday, 9am-4:30pm
Julie Lukosaitis

19R124L-B - Making Glass Beads

Lampwork (glass bead making) is an ancient art. All beads are made in the small flame of a torch. You will learn the basics of hot head torch set up and safety, heat control, and techniques for different design styles. Round beads will be made first. You'll pull glass stringers for design and details, making dots, scrolls, and swirls on your own beads. You'll be the artist choosing your colors and designs. This class is full of interesting skills: making different bead shapes, using metals, and making a head pin for bead assembly into wearable and functional items.

Materials fee includes
glass, fuel, silver foil, and copper wire. Extra materials for purchase to make your bead creations into jewelry and functional artistic gifts include chain, gemstones, findings, appetizer and bottle accessories, and wine bottle stoppers.

Level:
Novice and above

Student Supply List:
Please tie long hair back and secure it. Wear cotton or wool clothing, and closed toe shoes. No loose clothing.

Tuition $135
Materials Fee $15
