Jewelry Boot Camp
Gateway to Jewelry Arts

Friday–Sunday, May 3-5, 2019

A three-day weekend of introductory level jewelry classes offers a range of techniques and styles from funky to fine. Use this weekend to explore different approaches, improve on or learn new skills, network with other jewelers, and leave with a lot of new ideas and jewelry.

Learn to make three styles of shawl pins using heavy-gauge copper or bronze wire:

A stick pin, where the pin stem is separate from a closed design.
A Penannular, where the pin stem is connected to an open circle.
A Fibula, which is made like a safety pin.

Techniques used are forming and forging wire, finishing wire ends, wire wrapping to add elements or stabilize a design, adding texture, and finishing and adding patina.

Material fee includes copper and bronze wire. All tools are provided, but you are welcome to bring your own.

Level: Novice and above

Student Supply List:

Students may bring beads or charms to enhance their designs.
