Working with variety of found and new collage papers students will create a fresh palette to select from on the first day of this workshop. Altering the surfaces using acrylics, mediums and stamping materials, we will explore ways to self-express and loosen up. The sense of design will be threaded through the workshop creating a wonderful illusion of harmony within the layers. Small exercises will assist and prepare students to assemble their collages onto the substrate of watercolor paper and mount them on mat board. Emphases will focus on the outside edges of the papers as we build layers creating depth and dimension. The addition of final touches with embellishments, beads, threads offers a wide range of possibilities and tactile experiences.

Materials fee covers glue, gesso, misc. papers, misc. substrates, backing, tape, mat board, instructional hand out.

Level: Beginner and above
