18C140 - Beginning Embroidery: Summer Spiral with Rumi Wisdom

Pick up a needle and learn some stitches! This class covers the basics - ways to transfer images, stretching fabric on a hoop, beginning and ending thread without a knot and choosing the best needle for your project. From there we’ll focus on stitches (blanket stitch, french knots, satin stitch, back stitch, lazy daisy, stem stitch and chain stitch) all while working on a summery spiral design featuring a Rumi quote. Special attention will be paid to various ways to stitch text.

This class is designed for someone who has never done any embroidery or hasn't done it for a long time and wants a refresher.

Materials fee includes: linen fabric with design transferred to fabric, embroidery floss to complete the entire project, extensive packet of detailed handouts.

Level: Novice and above

Student Supply List:
6-8" Embroidery hoop
Packet of assorted embroidery needles
Small, sharp scissors
Magnifier if needed
Task lighting if needed

Tuition $120
Materials Fee $10
