Have you ever seen the man in the moon or a flock of sheep in the clouds? This phenomenon is called pareidolia, which is the ability to discern a specific, often meaningful image in a vague or ambiguous visual pattern. You will start with a photographic image from the workbook Journal Starters: Nature Backgrounds, Textures & Collaborations (which includes clouds, rocks, bark and other plant matter) and use it to create an object hinted at in patterns, textures, and designs. This transmutation will be accomplished with the use of colored pencils and/or paint. This class will not focus on the ability to create realism but will emphasize using your imagination.

Level: Beginner and above
