This class will focus on the process of applying vitreous enamel to fine silver using the technique of cloisonné. We will be making and taking home earrings and pendants made in class from fine silver (pure silver). Students may incorporate their own designs into their finished pieces or rely on designs from Maya. Cloisonné uses fine silver wire fired into a base coat of enamel to create cloisons (compartments) to hold colors and to delineate design. We will use transparent enamel which promotes the beauty of depth and reflection when fired over silver. Students may be beginners or have some enameling experience. I will share “tricks of the trade” learned over 20+ years of exploring this technique.

Level: Beginner and above
